What is the Theatre
History of the Theatre. |
Prior to theatres, plays would be held in courtyards
of inns. Because of the bad setting the plays were not much better. In 1576 an actor, James Burbage, builds a permanent playhouse in Shoreditch, with this came a new era of high quality performance. Over the next 20 years theatres became more common and a great place to spend time at. The theatre was able to be enjoyed by almost anyone but where you sat meant a great deal about your social status. |
What did Shakespeare use them for.
|
Shakespeare used theatre to extend his career. Without the theatre Shakespeare would be a glove maker and the English language would not have evolved to what it is today.
